We suffer from the Fallacy of the Misplaced Teeter-Totter.
We suffer because of our logic, or either/or thinking. According to our logic, you are either calm or not calm, either up or down. Logically, to this mind, you cannot be both up and down, in or out. Our world of Logical Mechanics cannot entertain ambiguity, except in movies and art. But in everyday mind, you cannot be on both sides of the teeter-totter at the same time. We call that fllip-flopping. Take sides. Don't be wishy, washy.
I am Up because you are down. In the mechanical world, up is up and down is down, and they will never meet. In this way, we are trapped on the Teeter-Totter of our logical mind. The logic of the mechanical mind is Aristotle's Law of Identity, the law of form. Every thing is what it is. A flaming cannot be a croquet mallet, except in Alice and Wonderland. And so, our modern mechanical world as lost its Wonder. We have to pay for wonder in the movies, but our world is dead, dead, dead.
If I could see like a little child that the world is a playground of the mind, I would be free from the wound of the logical teeter-totter.
